My wife, June, and I separated from Columbus First Baptist Church in Columbus, NE over the doctrine of “election” as held by this church, i.e., Reformed Theology. We looked into another Baptist church in the city, E-Free Church, and the Berean Church, and all followed the same doctrine. So, after discussing the issue with the pastor and elders over several months, we decided it would be best to leave quietly and not disrupt the fellowship of that congregation. After a month of being away, several of the members started calling us and asking us why we left. When we explained the issue, many were surprised, but agreed with us and started meeting with us in our home. To make a long story short, we are now in a storefront and have officially incorporated into a “church.” We will be two years old this coming September and there are about 20 in our membership. We have partnered with the First Baptist Church of Garland, TX (where June and I were members before moving to Columbus) as a satellite of that church. I am the head elder of the church. I am not the “pastor,” but I am filling that function for now. I teach in the Bible study hour (I’m currently teaching through Romans) and then we live-stream the worship service of FBCG. I would be happy to answer any questions you might have. I know you want to know that we are in complete agreement with our shared beliefs.
